Hastings & Humble Becomes Independent, Changes Name, Moves to Larger Offices
PORTLAND, Ore. — June 28, 1990 — Hastings & Humble Public Relations Inc. announced it has completed a management buyout, making it independent of its parent company Young & Roehr Inc., a Northwest advertising agency.
In addition, the firm is changing its name to Hastings, Humble, Giardini & Freeman Inc. The new name reflects the four shareholders and principals — Victoria S. Hastings, Charles F. Humble, Delayne Giardini and Sherida E. Freeman.
Also effective with the buyout and name change, the agency moves to new offices in the Albers Mill building July 2, more than doubling its floor space to 7,500-sq-ft. to accommodate an expanding client base in both Oregon and California.
Young & Roehr formed Hastings & Humble in 1985 as a public relations subsidiary by providing venture capital, office space and management support. Since then, the agency's revenues have grown at a compound rate of 56 percent. With 17 employees and $1.8 million in annual capitalized billings, it is Portland's second largest public relations firm.
