MARGI Systems First to Provide DVD on NT 4.0 for Fujitsu Pen Tablet Computers
FREMONT, Calif. — June 24, 1999 — MARGI Systems, Inc. has launched its popular DVD-to-Go product for the Windows NT 4.0 platform. Compatible with Fujitsu Personal Systems' Stylistic 2300 pen tablet computer, mobile NT 4.0 pen computer users now have the power to create persuasive presentations, conduct interactive training sessions and play full resolution DVD.
DVD-to-Go is a PC Card that decodes full color, full-motion video (30 fps) along with Dolby(R) Digital Surround Sound. Before the DVD-to-Go NT 4.0 driver, Windows NT 4.0 mobile users were limited to running MPEG-1 video and analog stereo output. DVD-to-Go is the first product to offer a solution for NT 4.0 mobile users to play MPEG-2 video, Dolby Digital (AC3) audio and CSS encrypted media. Mobile NT 4.0 users are now able to reap the benefits of DVD-to-Go and other high-performance digital audio/video technologies.
Other benefits of using DVD-to-Go include TV output option, compatibility with MPEG-1, high performance video resolution at 720 x 480 NTSC or 720 x 576 PAL (16 million colors), sharp slow motion and freeze-frame video, and a multiple camera angle option. It is easy to use and allows for multitasking capability, without using much of the CPU.
"Business computing is evolving towards mobile Windows NT 4.0," said Shrikant Acharya, president, MARGI Systems. "As this market grows, the need to provide mobile NT 4.0 users with advanced multimedia solutions is imperative. Our success in developing a DVD-to-Go NT 4.0 driver allows mobile users to have the best in digital video value, performance and reliability. Fujitsu Stylistic 2300 users are the first mobile NT 4.0 users to take advantage of this capability."
The Fujitsu Stylistic 2300 is one of the few pen tablet computers that support Zoomed Video, providing high-performance, full-motion video at 30 frames per second. The Stylistic 2300 delivers SVGA for indoor and outdoor use. This broadly applicable pen computer is designed for mobile workers in large organizations with a multitude of mobile computing needs, providing on-the-spot decision support with remote database access, mapping, voice recognition and multimedia presentations.
"Fujitsu continues to dominate the pen tablet industry by delivering the latest in high-performance pen computing technology," commented Peter Carcione, product manager with FPSI. "The availability of MARGI's DVD-to-Go card adds significant value to our Stylistic 2300 pen tablet computers by enabling mobile workers to run color-rich multimedia applications regardless of location and time of day."
In addition to NT 4.0, DVD-to-Go has driver support for Windows 95 and 98. DVD-to-Go's GUI application layer interface is supported for the DVD Navigator (Player), Video CD 2.0 and multiple zoomed video notebooks.
DVD-to-Go can be purchased through Ingram Micro, the world's largest distributor of computer products, SKU No. 782101. Contact 800/456-8000 or www.ingrammicro.com. The NT 4.0 driver upgrade is only available at MARGI Systems, www.margi.com.
