Globalware Computing Now Shipping ‘Pylon ServerSync 2.5 Gold’
CHICAGO — July 27, 1999 — Globalware Computing announced today that it has begun shipping Pylon ServerSync 2.5 Gold, the first and only fully integrated Domino/Lotus Notes and handheld server solution that allows users to distribute custom Notes databases to multiple Palm(TM) users. Used in conjunction with Globalware's proven, award-winning Pylon technology, and fully compatible with Lotus Domino Release 5.0, Pylon ServerSync uniquely provides users with the ability to seamlessly combine a server, conduit and handheld device. By using this robust multi-user application, system administrators can now easily keep both dial-up and network-connected handheld users fully synchronized with corporate data.
"With our comprehensive validation process now completed, Pylon ServerSync 2.5 Gold is indeed fully ready for volume delivery," said Gilad Ben-Yoseph, President of Globalware Computing. "The beta testing period was very important, because it yielded valuable information that enabled us to appropriately fine-tune ServerSync's features and performance in order to best meet the demands of our customers." "Globalware's Pylon ServerSync provides additional value to Palm device users by providing Lotus Notes database distribution across a network," said Gabriel Acosta-Lopez director of platform development services for Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company. "With Pylon ServerSync, IT administrators can leverage their existing computing infrastructure to supply users of Palm devices with vital enterprise information." The powerful Pylon ServerSync features a multi-threaded server that can comfortably support multiple simultaneous sessions.
In addition, the software's ability to support centralized Notes configuration makes administration of large-scale rollouts exceptionally simple. Pylon ServerSync also features seamless integration with Domino because the application is implemented as an integrated Domino "add-in task". Plus, its full implementation of the Domino security model provides for secure access without any need for additional administration. Pylon ServerSync easily integrates with Globalware's Pylon Conduit and PylonPro(TM) applications, both of which are sold separately. Pylon Conduit, the world's first Lotus Notes and Palm Computing(R) conduit, allows Lotus Notes users to synchronize the mail, calendar, to-do-list, journal and address book with Palm(TM) connected organizers or compatible handheld devices.
The innovative PylonPro automatically translates any Notes database design into a Palm application without requiring users to convert and customize corporate applications.
