PocketScience Launches PocketMail BackFlip for Palm Computing Devices

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 4, 2000 — January 4, 2000 — PocketScience(tm) Inc., provider of PocketMail(tm) mobile e-mail service, announced today the availability of their latest mobile e-mail device, the PocketMail BackFlip(tm). This new device provides a fast, inexpensive and easy-to-use mobile e-mail solution for more than four million users of Palm Computing(R) platform-based devices. The PocketMail BackFlip is a small hardware device that snaps on to the back of the Palm organizer. It allows users to send and receive e-mail or fax messages from any landline or wireless phone in the world, including digital CDMA, TDMA and GSM phones, without the need for a phone jack, cradle or cable.

The PocketMail BackFlip is only available for purchase through the PocketMail Web site at www.pocketmail.com for only $99. Unlimited PocketMail service is only $9.95 per month.

"We introduced the PocketMail BackFlip at COMDEX and we are excited today to be able to put this new device in the hands of Palm owners who have been anxiously awaiting a solution for their mobile communication needs," said Neil Peretz, co-founder of PocketScience. "Millions of Palm users will now have a simple and affordable means of sending and receiving e-mail with their Palm organizer."

Sending and receiving e-mail messages with the PocketMail BackFlip is as easy as dialing a toll-free number, holding the device against a telephone handset and pushing the PocketMail button. PocketMail can consolidate other e-mail addresses such as ISPs, AOL and corporate networks and there is no limit to the number of toll-free calls to access the service or the volume of e-mail messages you send and receive. The BackFlip transfers e-mail messages directly to the Palm device, where they can be read, stored, replied to, or forwarded to another address.

Features of the PocketMail BackFlip include:

— Personalized mailboxes to store incoming and outgoing messages

— Nine customizable folders to manage PocketMail messages

— Palm Address Book application compatibility

— vCard and vCalendar attachments

— Only weighs 5.5 oz. (including two AAA batteries)

— SPAM filter and PocketRules filters

— Dimensions: 3.25-inch (W) x 6-inch (H) x 1-inch (D)
