SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — October 22, 1993 — Slate Corp. Friday announced that it shipped Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack software for Newton-compatible personal digital assistants. Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack includes the Day-Timer Expense Assistant for keeping track of personal or reimbursable business expenses as they occur, and the Day-Timer Meeting Assistant for meeting planning and follow-up. Slate signed Apple StarCore as the principal distributor and marketer of Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack.

StarCore is the distribution arm of the Apple Personal Interactive Electronics (PIE) division. Dixon Bernier, assistant vice president, Chemical Bank, is one of the early users of Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack from Slate. Bernier has been using it to prepare his weekly reimbursement reports and plan his meetings. "I found Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack easy to use and polished. It's incredibly valuable and convenient to see your running expense totals right on the screen. And the printed reports are great," commented Bernier. "I love the way your meetings integrate with the built-in Newton calendar. I just create a meeting plan and when I turn to my calendar it's automatically scheduled," Bernier continued.

KEEPING TRACK OF EXPENSES AS THEY OCCUR

The Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack includes the Day-Timer Expense Assistant which automates the record keeping associated with personal or reimbursable business expense tracking. Day-Timer Expense Assistant can reduce the time and errors associated with expense reporting. Users can eliminate forgotten and unreimbursed expense items, making the Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack "pay for itself" after just a few weeks. Users simply enter expense, advance and reimbursement transactions when they happen. Day-Timer Expense Assistant organizes expenses by type, maintaining running subtotals and multiple expense reports, automatically. With Day-Timer Expense Assistant, users can print reports in popular Day-Timer formats or transfer information to personal computer spreadsheets or financial packages and complete company-specific expense reports, if required.

MANAGING EFFECTIVE MEETINGS

The Day-Timer Meeting & Expense Pack includes the Day-Timer Meeting Assistant that lets users plan meetings in advance, conduct more effective meetings and follow-up on important details. With Day-Timer Meeting Assistant, users fill out a meeting agenda form that includes the meeting date, time and location. Day-Timer Meeting Assistant intelligently schedules the meeting in the Newton MessagePad calendar. Users can add meeting details such as objectives, lists of items to be discussed and the materials needed at the meeting. Prior to the meeting, users can prepare by reviewing the agenda form. During the meeting, Day-Timer Meeting Assistant can be used to record who attended, to keep the meeting focused on the agenda and objectives and to record any actions and decisions made. With Day-Timer Meeting Assistant, reports can be printed and distributed as meeting minutes without the need to create a separate report.
