CIC Announces PenMac — Pen Operating Environment for the Macintosh

January 25, 1993 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (CIC)(NASDAQ:CICI) Monday announced its new pen operating environment, PenMac, designed for the Macintosh platform.

PenMac will first ship this quarter, in Japan, bundled with CIC’s MacHandwriter II pen input product for Macintosh personal computers running Apple’s new KanjiTalk 7 operating system. CIC’s PenMac and MacHandwriter II are being showcased at PenExpo in San Francisco this week and at MacWorld Expo Tokyo in February. PenMac will be shipped in the United States and Europe later this year.

CIC’s PenMac pen operating environment makes the Macintosh System software and Macintosh applications pen aware. PenMac operates with CIC’s consumer proven, multilingual Handwriter Recognition System which has thou-sands of users worldwide. PenMac allows users to point and enter commands, handwritten text, and graphics directly and naturally into Macintosh applications with the pen. PenMac also displays electronic ink providing the user immediate feedback of pen events. PenMac is one of the first products to make use of new Macintosh System 7 features such as World Script and Text Services Manager (TSM).

The MacHandwriter II combined with the Macintosh personal computer and Apple’s new KanjiTalk 7 operating system makes a powerful desktop pen computing system. The MacHandwriter II, featuring PenMac, can be used with most available Macintosh hardware platforms.

MacHandwriter II is distributed in Japan by Apple Japan Inc., located in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
