CIC Brings its Award-Winning Handwriter Recognition System to Microsoft Windows

February 16, 1993 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (NASDAQ:CICI) Tuesday announced the release of Handwriter Recognition System (HRS) software for the Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing operating environment.

The award-winning, multilingual HRS software is the result of a three-year collaboration between Microsoft Corp. and CIC. HRS for Windows for Pen Computing is now available through CIC to large end-user accounts, and is shipping worldwide to CIC licensees such as Fujitsu Ltd., NEC Corp., NCR Corp., Samsung, Acer Inc., Seiko Epson, and others.

HRS for Windows for Pen Computing is being demonstrated, with other CIC pen computing products, at Technologic Partners’ Mobile ’93 Conference, in San Jose, Feb. 17 – 18.

Available for English (U.S. and U.K.), German, French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese languages, CIC’s Handwriter Recognition System software recognizes handwritten input on pen-based computers. The HRS software allows users to interact with their computers using a pen — offering a more natural input style especially well-suited for portable computing.

Handwriter Recognition System has won Research & Development Magazine’s R&D 100 Award and most recently, “Best of Show,” in the recognizer category at PenExpo last month. HRS provides consistently high recognition performance across multiple standard operating systems including Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing and CIC’s own PenDOS and PenMac pen operating environments. The HRS software will soon be compatible with IBM’s OS/2 and GO’s PenPoint operating systems.
