Kurta and SuperScript Join Forces to Manufacture Next Generation Pen Systems

July 27, 1992 — SuperScript Inc. and Kurta Corp. Monday announced a business partnership which authorizes Kurta to manufacture SuperScript’s next generation desktop pen-based system.

The partnership will merge Kurta’s leading cordless pen and input system technology with SuperScript’s unique pen system interface design and software.

“Kurta’s reputation for performance and technical excellence will help us to realize our goal of bringing high perfor-mance pen systems to the end-user market,” said John Kulp, president of SuperScript. “With Kurta’s manufacturing capacity, we are now poised to meet the volume needs of this market,” he continued.

“This is an exciting partnership between our companies,” said Gary Fitzgerald, vice president and general manager of Kurta’s Pen Systems Products Division. “By integrating our digitizer and pen with SuperScript’s industry-leading software and interface, we will have the highest performance desktop pen-based system on the market.”

The SuperScript product will target the fixed-location pen computing market and is designed to automate paper-intensive tasks such as back-office processing, sales administration, patient diagnostics and publishing.

SuperScript’s systems are peripherals that attach to standard 386- or 486-based personal computers running Microsoft’s Windows for Pen Computing, GO’s PenPoint, GRID’s PenRight! and CIC’s PenDOS.

SuperScript develops and markets hardware and software systems that make pen computing a reliable, cost-effective solution for strategic problems. Headquartered at 36 Bay State Road, Cambridge, Mass., SuperScript is a privately held company.

Based in Phoenix, Kurta Corp. designs, develops, produces and markets desktop graphics tablets, large-scale digitizers and OEM pen system products for the computer aided design, graphics arts and pen-based computer markets.
