Slate Provides Broadest Family of Software Products for GO’s PenPoint

April 16, 1992 — Slate Corp., the leading provider of pen computing applications software, Thursday supported the shipment of the GO PenPoint operating system with the broadest family of software applications products announced for PenPoint.

Slate has developed the following products for PenPoint: Slate PenApps application builder, an applications development environment; Slate PenBook, electronic book software package; Slate LapLink Pro for PenPoint, a file transfer utility; Slate At-Hand, a full-featured pencentric spreadsheet; Slate SafetyPen Utilities, which provide backup and password security; and the Slate Day-Timer Pen Scheduler software, a daily planner and notetaker based on the Day-Timer standard.

“This family of products underscores our continued commitment to PenPoint,” said Vern Raburn, chairman and CEO of Slate Corp. “This is the broadest and deepest array of products for PenPoint, from a single company to-date. It includes everything needed to create custom solutions for vertical markets, as well as the key productivity applications requested by end users.”

Slate and GO also announced that GO Corp. will resell Slate’s PenApps application development environment as a part of the newly created PenPoint Custom Solutions Alliance. The Custom Solutions Alliance is intended to provide a wide spectrum of development facilities for PenPoint.

“PenApps is a critical component to our Custom Solutions Alliance program,” noted Jerry Kaplan, chairman of GO Corp. “Our customers are demanding an industrial-strength application development environment to build vertical mar-ket database applications, so we are teaming up with Slate to give them direct access to PenApps.”

More than 400 companies are developing with the Slate PenApps Developer’s Release, which has been available since March 1991. PenApps 1.0, and all other Slate products, will be available by July. Pricing varies by application.

Slate products are available from Slate, authorized resellers and licensed hardware manufacturers. Slate PenApps will also be available directly from GO Corp.

Slate, headquartered in Scottsdale, is the leading provider of application software for pen computing. Slate began ship-ping products in March 1991.
