3Com Ships New Release of CodeWarrior for Palm Computing Platform

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — October 21, 1998 — Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company (Nasdaq: COMS) today announced shipment of CodeWarrior(R) for Palm Computing(R) Platform Release 5, the premier software development tool for creating applications that run on all Palm Computing platform devices. CodeWarrior for Palm Computing Platform is a tightly integrated development environment that allows programmers to write Palm OS(TM) applications. With Release 5, they can now take advantage of the enhanced infrared (IrDA) support in the Palm OS software and the bar code scanner in the Symbol SPT 1500 device to create compelling, portable solutions for corporate or consumer use.

CodeWarrior for Palm Computing Platform Release 5 is priced at U.S. $ 369 for an annual subscription, which includes the next upgrade free. The Conduit Development Kit, a software development kit from 3Com used to write plug-ins for HotSync(R) technology, is included with product registration. Developers may renew for an additional year of upgrades for U.S. $ 269. Educational and volume discounts are available.
