Communication Intelligence Corporation Begins Shipping Jot Handwriting Recognition System for the Palm III and PalmPilot Connected Organizers
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — August 12, 1998 — Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) (NASDAQ:CICI) announced today that it began shipping a new version of its Jot(TM) handwriting recognition system which supports the Palm III(TM), PalmPilot(TM), and Pilot edition connected organizers from 3Com (NASDAQ:COMS).
The Jot handwriting recognition system offers a natural way of inputting text, punctuation, and macros on the Palm Computing(R) platform. Jot for Palm Computing devices is $ 39 and is available for download from CIC's website at http://www.cic.com.

Because Jot was specifically designed to meet the demands of input on small devices it offers real time recognition in a compact program size and allows users to write in place. The Jot recognition offering for the Palm III and PalmPilot organizers will allow the user to input text by using natural printed characters in the standard input area or anywhere on the rest on the Palm screen.
Jot also enables Graffiti software to be used in full screen mode. The growing base of European users of the Palm platform will appreciate Jot's support of accented characters for recognition of Roman-based European languages. Users of Palm devices may also find that input of punctuation and macros are more natural and intuitive with Jot.
