Pendragon Software and WaveWare Communications Partner to Deliver Sales Automation Software for Palm Computing Devices
SAN DIEGO — March 30, 1999 — Pendragon Software Corporation and WaveWare Communications, Inc., today announced inter-operability plans for their products, Pendragon OrderForms(TM) and WaveWare's WaveSync(TM) synchronization server. Pendragon OrderForms is a powerful order entry software tool for the contemporary sales force, and WaveSync is the premier handheld synchronization server software currently supporting Palm Computing(R) Platform devices. The joint OrderForms/WaveSync offering opens the door to a new era of sales-force automation. It provides mobile workers with direct, secure access to enterprise databases from their Palm Computing organizers.
Previous to this partnership, OrderForms data entered into the handheld by the mobile worker had to pass through a desktop PC in order to reach an enterprise database. With this new solution, OrderForms data can go directly from the remote handheld to the enterprise database host without passing through the desktop. This avoids the security risks introduced by requiring desktop access from outside the LAN. Now, remote sales force personnel can be assured of secure, direct registration of order data over any communication link, wired or wireless.
Dr. Martha Dennis, President and CEO of WaveWare, says of the partnership: "It's a giant step in making the sales force truly mobile without sacrificing enterprise network access."
"This union of OrderForms and WaveSync will allow our customers to deploy large numbers of handheld devices, and to synchronize via wireless or land line connections," said Ivan Phillips, President of Pendragon Software.
When combined with WaveSync, OrderForms gains the benefits of WaveSync's accelerated synchronization speed and reduced data traffic. Depending on the type of communications link used, the OrderForms operation over WaveSync synchronization enjoys a speed increase from 40 to 500%. This can be critical when sales personnel synchronize under the constraint of limited time between flights or between sales calls. The combined OrderForms/WaveSync product offering will be available by the end of Q2 '99.
