Pendragon Software Announces Wireless Access for Database Applications Running On Palm Computing Devices

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. — April 18, 2000 — Pendragon Software today announced the latest version of its popular forms software for the Palm Computing(R) platform, featuring enhanced bar coding and Internet access.

Pendragon Forms(TM), already in use at thousands of corporations worldwide, brings powerful database capabilities to Palm OS(R) organizers. The software supports bi-directional synchronization with Microsoft Access and ODBC data sources, yet is extremely easy to use.

"Pendragon Forms gives corporations the ability to create powerful custom database applications with little or no programming knowledge," said Ivan Phillips, president and CEO of Pendragon Software. "With the new with Internet capabilities, corporations will be able to take advantage of real time access to the corporate network from remote locations."

New Features

The new features in version 3.1 provide enhanced wireless access, scripting, performance, printing and bar code reader support.

The wireless access feature permits real-time access to XML data on Web servers, and provides a simple way to take advantage local area wireless links. In conjunction with its enhanced bar code support, the wireless access feature enables sophisticated supply chain management applications to be built at lower cost.

With the enhanced bar code reader support, scripts can be triggered when bar codes are scanned with Symbol Technologies bar code reading equipment. For example, scripts can be triggered to lookup part descriptions based on scanned part numbers.

Sophisticated reports can now be printed directly from the handheld device through the use of new scripting commands. Printing support also allows bar code labels to be printed from printers such as the Paxar Monarch 6015.

Availability

The new software runs on the latest Palm Computing devices including the Palm IIIc, Palm V, Palm VII and Symbol Technologies SPT-1500 and SPT-1700.

Pendragon Forms 3.1 will ship in April 2000; a starter kit including development tools and a single-user license is priced at $149. Volume discounts apply on additional runtime licenses. An evaluation version of Pendragon Forms 3.1 will be available for download from the Pendragon Software Web site at http://www.pendragonsoftware.com .
